DAY 10 - 31 Days of Evangelism Tips and Training

Please bookmark this page as I will be adding to it often. If you want to be ready with an answer to anyone who asks then seek to know the Word of God and learn from others who have been doing it for a long time.

This particular post will focus on the ministry of Ray Comfort. I have come to greatly respect this man and his zeal for the lost. You can see the wisdom in his words as he tries to answer the many questions from atheists, agnostics, other non-believers, and even those who are, perhaps, seeking truth.

You can learn more about Him and his ministry at the links provided on this page. The way he presents the gospel is patterned after the way Jesus Christ presented His message and can be used to witness to anyone and in any culture.

About Ray Comfort and Living Waters Ministry:

Questions and Answers with Ray Comfort:

Non-Believer: "You claim to know the mind of God Ray. Do you think you are infallible?"

Ray Comfort: "Every one of us is fallible. We daily make mistakes. However, any person can know the will of the One who is infallible. We have the Old Testament (Gods will and “testament”), and the New Testament. In the Old Testament God revealed how He is holy and just, as well as loving and good. All the harsh judgments we see in the history of Israel came only because God is morally good. It is because of His goodness that He must see that justice is done, in the same way that a good judge in a court of law must be just.

So if you have a mind to you can know the mind of God when it comes to what He wants for you and me—Heaven rather than Hell. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked."

Non-Believer: "If God is so great than why does he insist on spreading his word through people who are generally less educated, compassionate, cultured and socially tolerant than I am? I'd be much more inclined to take the spiritual word of someone like the Dalai Lama who preaches peace, tolerance and individual responsibility for societal health. Also, his grammar is impeccable."

Ray Comfort: God resists condescending, self-righteous, proud, judgmental people. The Bible says that the poor heard Jesus gladly. I would far rather spend my time with uneducated folk, than with those who look down their educated noses on those whose grammar isn’t up to their standard. Still, I appreciate that you are here (BTW. A typo in your opening sentence ruined its grammatical structure)."

Non-Believer: “If a child rapist repented to God -- I mean, truly repented, would you let him babysit your kids?"

Ray Comfort: "It really depends on the time-frame in which you are talking. If it was years after the fact, and he now had a proven track record, that may be brought into the equation. True biblical repentance is a complete and perpetual turning from that which is displeasing to God. Read Psalm 51 to see the mind of someone who truly repented, after he had committed adultery and murder."

Non-Believer: "Galileo was censured by the church, and he's far from the only example. When the church would claim dominion over that which rightfully belongs to science, then atheists have every right to be angry at it for preventing human advancement. Would we have ever landed on the moon if the church had kept convincing everyone the Earth was flat?”

Ray Comfort: "Galileo wasn't an atheist. When the Roman Catholic church confined him to house arrest he protested, “I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.” Also, almost everyone (including scientists) believed that the earth was flat (except theist, Christopher Columbus and some others). And don’t forget that the men who landed on the moon read Genesis chapter one from space, and just before the landing they took communion and thanked God for sending a Savior."

Ray Comfort Quotes:

"Sin is like body odor and bad breath. We can detect it in others, but not in ourselves. We need someone who loves us who will tell us the truth. That is what God does. His Word says we are morally filthy, and yet He loves us to make provision for our cleansing, through the cross."

"READ Psa. 111-118 (111:10): The world scorns the fear of the Lord, yet it is the beginning of wisdom. Those who don't fear God are not wise."

"The Bible is filled with dichotomies. Today you are either saved or you are lost, under mercy or wrath, in darkness or in light, part of the just or the wicked, heading for Heaven or Hell. There are no in-betweens, no purgatory, no annihilation, or universal salvation. Don’t try and sit on the fence when it comes to your salvation, because there isn't one."

"Three important questions: Do you like to win? Why then have you not repented and put your trust in Jesus Christ? Don't be the ultimate loser: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)."

"The greatest truth any human being could ever discover is that everlasting life is the free gift of God (see Romans 6:23). It can't be earned or deserved through religious works (see Ephesians 2:6-9)."
